The Steel Wall Stay

The Steel wall stay is the workhorse of our stay range: a straight, fully threaded steel stay that ties a floor-standing cast iron radiator back to the wall, so it stays put if it’s knocked.

What it does

  • Steadies the radiator: cast iron radiators stand on their own feet — the stay anchors the radiator back to the wall and takes out any movement.
  • Adjusts to your installation: the stay is threaded along its full length, so it sets to the exact gap between radiator and wall.

When to choose steel

Fitted behind the radiator, a stay all but disappears — and when it will never be seen, plain bright steel does the job. If yours will catch the eye, or you want it to match your valves, choose the Classic or Whitworth wall stay, made in the same finishes as our valve sets.

  • Fully threaded steel stay with a square clamp plate for the radiator end.
  • Domed wall cup with brass expansion anchor — the wall fixing is supplied, ready to fit.
  • One finish: plain bright steel, made to sit out of sight behind the radiator.

How long will my radiator take?

We aim to have your radiator ready within four to six weeks, and we give you an estimated completion date as soon as it starts its journey through our Stockport workshop.

Which finishes can I choose?

Classic (Black, White or Grey) is included. Signature covers our curated collection of over 20 colours. Custom is any RAL reference or a named designer shade from Little Greene, Farrow & Ball, Paint & Paper Library and the other houses we stock. Bespoke is our metallic and specialist hand-polished range. Your radiator is supplied in the finish you choose, and you can see them all on our finishes page.

How do I choose the right size?

Pick your columns, height and sections above and the readout shows the radiator’s size, weight and heat output. To work out the output each room needs, use our free BTU calculator, or call us on 0161 843 8163 and we’ll help you choose.

Will it work with my heating system?

Yes. It comes with ½” BSP bottom bushes as standard, so it’s ready for modern systems and thermostatic radiator valves, and it works with heat pumps and condensing boilers.

What guarantee comes with it?

Every cast iron radiator is covered by our 25-year Cast Iron Guarantee.

Do you deliver?

Yes. We deliver across the UK mainland, free on orders of £1,500 or more, or you’re welcome to collect from our Stockport workshop. See deliveries and collections.
