Radrestore is a small Stockport workshop — Guild of Master Craftsmen members — restoring and building cast iron radiators by hand. We don’t have any live vacancies right now — but we’re always interested in hearing from skilled people, and we’ve just welcomed our newest apprentice to the workshop. If the work below sounds like your kind of work, introduce yourself.
The work
- Stripping, repairing and reassembling century-old cast iron radiators
- Hand-assembling new radiators, built to order to each customer’s height, sections and finish
- Finishing — spraying through to hand polishing
- Pressure-testing every radiator to 4 bar before it leaves the workshop
Every radiator we send out is backed by a 25-year guarantee — so the work has to be right, and the people who do it take pride in that. It’s a small team doing real craft, with your name effectively on everything you touch.
We recruit for attitude and train for the standard — and the standard is high. Every new member of the team completes a rigorous training programme during their probationary period, learning at the bench from our master craftsmen. Nobody works on customer radiators alone until they’ve been signed off, station by station, as meeting the highest standard our restoration process demands. It’s how the old skills stay alive: traditional workmanship, taught properly, working hand in hand with modern methods.
Who we’d like to hear from
- Restoration and metal trades — stripping, repair, assembly
- Finishers and sprayers — paint and polish
- Heating engineers who know their way around cast iron
- Workshop hands and career starters — apprenticeships happen here when the time is right
